Mark Bellissimo's Vision For Wellington Florida

Mark Bellissimo, the new owner of The Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Center has a vision for the Equestrian community in Wellington Florida. Bellissimo spoke to the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and said that his goal is to capture the passion of the Equestrian sport in Wellington.

Jean Mische brought the Winter Equestrian Festival and the National Horse Shows to Wellington and Bill Ylvisaker brought Polo to Wellington many years ago. Now John Goodman has built a wonderful new Polo complex and his model has made Wellington in some circles dubbed the Polo Capital of the world.

Bellissimo's vision is to get all the residents of Wellington involved in the Equestrian world here from all walks of life and to really transform our village into a spectacular Premier International Equestrian Lifestyle Destination. Hey, I would love that because it helps our property values and brings buyers to our area! He wants kids that are beginners to the ones that want to compete in the Olympics to come to Wellington to live and love the Equestrian lifestyle that is unique to our town. He also wants to extend the Equestrian season to 7 months. One of the things he wants to do is to get more people that live in Wellington to go and be spectators at the events.

CATS Gymnastics, Wellington Florida's Best Gymnastics School

Wellington Florida is home to a cream of the crop Gymnastics School named CATS Gymnastics.

How do I know that this is a great gymnastics school? My son who will be 5 years old next week started taking Gymnastics classes at CAT's Gymnastics there when he was 6 months old. I started him in the baby/parent classes that start at 6 months and lasted until he was 36 months. When he turned three I no longer had to be in the class with him. He graduated into the Preschool class for ages 3 years to 5 years. This month he is graduating into the 'Big Boys' class for 5-7 year old boys. Up until this month he has been in Co-Ed classes. At 5 years they separate the girl classes from the boy classes. He just loves his classes. The teachers at CATS gymnastics school are very patient and kind to the children.

The Summer and Holiday Camps are fun and full of learning new techniques. My son loves the camp. He wanted to go every day during the summer. He even asked that I let him have the extended hour camp so he would not miss a beat! You can also have your Birthday party here and they have sleepovers for the girls.

Nicole Britton along with her parents Carole and Terry Howison are the owners of CATS Gymnastics, a family run business. There are 5 Gymnastics schools in Wellington. CATS started here in Wellington in 1992 and is the oldest and longest running Gymnastics school in Wellington with over 500 students.

The students of CATS Gymnastics win lots of competitions, medals and trophies for many events, Level 2 through optionals Statewide. But it is not a school that pushes competition. Instead they work on self-esteem, gross motor and social skills, body awareness, flexibility and strength. If you want to compete than you can if you do not, no pressure. I like that in a sports academy.

CATS gymnastics places safety above everything else. On the trampoline everyone must sit on the bench and wait for their turn. There is only one at a time on the Trampoline. CATS is more than a Kindergym type place. Nicole actually has all the professional grade apparatus for a gymnastics school and the staff teaches real gymnastics.Check out the cool video show below to see the school.

The parents I interviewed about why they like the school and stay all said that the staff is caring and experienced. It has a great family feel to the place and you feel very comfortable in the school. They have large glass windows and welcome the parents to watch their children in class. Nicole brings her children ages 2 and 4 with her to work at the school and allows other moms that work there to bring their kids with them. Being mom friendly like this is very important to me and my values. It is also a great place for moms to come and mingle while the kids are in the classes. This would be a great place if you are new to the area to come and make some new friends.

Wellington Florida Village Council Approved Cameras For Traffic Lights

Wellington Florida Village Council just approved the installation of cameras on our traffic lights to catch photos of those that run red lights at intersections. Royal Palm Beach already has them installed and much of Palm Beach County also. Wellington Florida luxury homes for sale

The Village of Wellington code enforcement will be fining those that run red lights. The proposed fines are $125 each time you run a red light for the first two times and then go up to $250 for the third time over a three year period.

The cameras will be moved around to where the most infractions are. They are going to contract the installation of the cameras out to companies that specialize in this field.

This new ordinance is set up and approved for public safety not as an income generator the village said. They do think that the revenue brought in by the fines will pay for the cameras, the work involved in working them and levying the fines. It may even generate a profit but that is not the goal.

People who run red lights will think twice about doing so and also will not always know where the cameras may be at all times. This should also lesson the accidents caused by those who run red lights.

Wellington Florida- Preparing Your Pool For Hurricanes

Wellington Florida- preparing your pool for hurricanes is one of the chores we must attend to.

The most important thing to remember is that you do not drain your pool. Many people have ruined their pools by draining their pools before a hurricane. Leave the water level alone.

Remove any automatic pool cleaners, pool covers, toys, floaties; anything that can be picked up by strong winds.

Turn off your pool pump. If you have lights inside your pool, turn those off too.

Cover your pool pump with a waterproof tarp and secure the tarp well with ties.

Lots of rain water will turn your pool water green quickly so make sure that before the storm comes that you add extra chemicals to help keep away insects and algae after the storm, especially if the power goes out.

If you have a salt water pool like we do, make sure you add extra salt to the pool and stock up on extra salt. After the hurricane passes through, add more salt to your pool.

Stock up on extra salt, chlorine or chemicals; whichever your pool needs so that after the storm you won't be driving around trying to find the items you are going to need for your pool.

Do not put your patio furniture in your pool. I have seen people do this. This is very dangerous. These lawn chairs and other furniture can be picked up by the wind and thrown through the air to hurt someone or damage property.

In emergencies where you don't have any water, you can use the water in your pool. You can take buckets of water to flush your toilets during times of no water or electricity.

You can boil the water on your gas grill in large pots and use that to heat up bath water to wash your hair and get soap on your body. You don't want to use the soap in your pool.

Turn a negative into a positive and while the power is out and you have no air conditioning; gather up the kids and go swimming in the pool. This is not just a great way to have some fun and reduce the stress but you can feel cleaner too:) You know, that hot, sticky, nasty feeling when you can't take a shower every day? After Wilma we were without power for 28 days so we made good use of our pool!

Stay safe and be prepared during the Hurricane season that is getting into full swing this time of year.

Wellington Florida Crime Action Bulletin! Caution- You Might Laugh!

The first homicide in the last 6 years just took place over the Thanksgiving weekend. When a crime does happen it is a HUGE deal.

The big excitement for patrol officers I think is to pass out speeding tickets and round up the kids who are skipping school. Wellington Florida does not have their own police department.

Nestor and I were on our 3 mile walk when suddenly we see this Sheriff's car zooming passed us with sirens flaring and lights glaring. Then we see another on and then another one! We saw a total of 6 siren wheeling Sheriff cars speed by in a matter of a minute.

Well, something's up with that we said to each other, they must have pulled over some young kid and found an ounce on him. That would be this type of response. There is not much excitement as a cop in our neck of the woods! We then hear the Sheriff chopper overhead!

We continue on our walk and there is nothing of major importance to take note of. Well, just the other day I am looking at our Google Alerts and see what all the fuss what about.

A young man had previously been stopped at the Wellington Green Mall for his pants hanging down too low and his underpants were showing. There is a rule at the mall that you can not walk around with your pants falling down. So they cited him for this infraction and he was ordered not to come back to the mall again, ever.

Well, he did come back to the mall with his pants hanging down again which means he is now trespassingon private property. This time the mall security called the Sheriff to come and arrest him. Well, his parents both over 50 and two of his cousins raised a protest about him being arrested and so the whole family was arrested and spent the night in jail. They are going to see a lawyer as they said they were treated unfairly. Well, the deputies arrested them for resisting an officer with violence, assault with intent to commit a felony and assault on a police officer and trespassing.

All in all, for this one incident there were 20 deputies, 2 K-9 Dogs and one Sheriff Chopper! WoW! You would think someone went postal!
